WORLD REFUGEE DAY

The many wars and conflicts around the world have led to increased numbers of refugees across different regions of the world.

The African Refugee Day, celebrated on 20 June each year, is one of the most famous days worldwide. The UN General Assembly adopted resolution 55/76 on 4 December 2000, in which was noted that 2001 would mark the fiftieth anniversary of the 1951 Convention relating to the Status of Refugees.
From 2001, the UN General Assembly instituted the celebration of World Refugee Day on June 20 of each year and that, after the Organization of African Unity (OAU) had agreed that the World Refugee Day coincide with Africa Refugee Day.
The 1951 Convention which enshrines the celebration of World Refugee Day and the creation of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees defines a refugee as a person "well-founded fear of being persecuted for reasons of race, religion , nationality, membership of a particular social group or political opinion, is outside the country of his nationality and is unable or, owing to such fear, is unwilling to avail himself of the protection of that country. "
Unlike immigrants, including economic migrants, who choose to leave their countries to improve their future prospects and those of their families, refugees are forced to leave their country to save their lives and preserve their freedom. Therefore, they do not enjoy the protection of their country, because most often their government is the source of their oppression if they do they are not allowed to enter other countries. And even when they get permission to enter another country they do not receive protection or assistance.
In Algeria, like other countries of the world, the number of refugees is increasing, because of the stability that the country knows that becomes a transit center for refugees from Africa and the Middle East .
